- Normalization of relations with China: Jimmy Carter paved the way for a formal relationship between the United States Of America and China.
- The Camp David Accords: Jimmy Carter was instrumental to aid in the agreement between Israel and Egypt. The agreement brought an end to the war in the Middle East and helping to pave the way for some dialogue between Israel and some of the Arab states.
- The 1977 Panama Canal Treaty: Jimmy Carter aided in the turning over of the strategic canal which is a major benefit to US policy towards Latin America.

- Human Rights: Carter was an advocate for human rights in the world. He brought up some key policies although the US has often been accused of not following its own rhetoric.
- Champion of the environment: Jimmy pushed for land preservation and other key environmental safety policies. He also gave more attention to solar panel electricity production.
